Contesting an ARV?

Have any of you ever contested an ARV for a prize before? I have gotten all the stuff from the HyVee races sweepstakes that I won and the ARV is too high, not a ton, but about $200. Should I call the fulfillment company and have them adjust it on the end of year paperwork they send me, or just make records of my own and send that in with my taxes? Or is that amount too small to really worry about?

FTR the prize consisted of $500 cash, tickets ($440 face value) and 2 nights hotel ($240) = $1180. The total ARV is $1396.

I would definetly call them but if they dont change it and you can prove its less then you can claim the lesser amount on your taxes did this years ago with a tv win from dell they were selling it for $500 less on their own site then the so called avr of my win I just had to print the web page and my tax guy submitted it.

Thanks, I called them and he took care of it. I was worried about not sounding grateful and being nitpicky, but they were so nice to work with.

Hee hee, I'm not exactly going to the races. It was some kind of NASCAR race, which I was really not interested in at all. I sold all the ticktets on Stubhub for about $400. I even switched my hotel room to another weekend so we won't be there for all the race stuff. So no having fun at the races, but I will have fun with the cash!

I know nothing about car racing so it would be similar to standing along the freeway as cars drove by. If any of you all lived closer I would have offered the tickets here.
